Appalachia Service Project has another high-quality staffer from the ranks of Jesse Lee. Caitlyn Brandon has been hired by the national organization to fill a staff position this summer.
Caitlyn, who is in the second half of her freshman year at Georgetown University, is a Jesse Lee ASP water bottle recipient–she participated in our ASP trip all four years of her high school career. She was also a member of our Orientation Team, the group charged with training our volunteers each year.
There is a staff of four college students assigned to each county in which Appalachia Service Project operates. Aside from the center director, who manages the staff, there is a volunteer coordinator, who assists groups before and during their ASP trips, an operations coordinator, who oversees meals and housing, and a finance coordinator, who orders supplies and keeps the money straight. Caitlyn reports to ASP headquarters in Jonesville, Virginia, on May 22, for a two-week training. Then, she will learn her position and the county in which she’ll be serving.
Caitlyn joins a growing list of Jesse Lee ASPeople who have been hired by the national organization. Last year, Melissa Carpenter, Ryan Angi, and Robbie Jones all served on ASP summer staff. We know Caitlyn will do a great job, too! Congratulations, Caitlyn!
